Mike Read
VICE CHAIR
Mike grew up in Guernsey leaving to join the Royal Air Force in 1987. He returned home in 2000, now flying all over the World as a commercial pilot for AirTours, Dragon Air and Cathay Pacific Airways, before joining Aurigny in 2022.
In 2016, as a result of his families experiences accessing care for a daughter with a chronic health condition, Mike set up the charity Cystic Fibrosis Guernsey. Active involvement in the the third sector has led to other roles including being the Health Representative for the Guernsey Disability Alliance (GDA), Chair of Health Equality for All (HEAL), Chair of the Guernsey Cancer Alliance (GCA) and a panel member on Aging Well in the Bailiwick (AWB).

David Inglis
MEMBER
David is currently the Chairman of Age Concern Guernsey whose primary role is to provide focus on issues relating to the community members that require support of guidance.
In recent years, David was the Chairman for Young Enterprise, following ten years as an advisor. He has also served as a past Chairman of PostWatch Guernsey and past President of the Bowmen of Guernsey. He has been a member of the Confederation of Guernsey Industry (CGi) management board and a former Chairman of Guernsey Island Games Association.

Heather Reed
MEMBER
Heather moved to Guernsey in 1998 to take up a post as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She cared for the women of Guernsey for almost 20 years and was also working as Honorary Consultant to the Southampton University Hospital Trust. Her role included the care of victims of sexual abuse and child abuse, and it was during this time she became a Directors of the Guernsey’s Women’s’ Refuge.
Since her retirement in 2017, Heather has been elected as a Jurat of the Royal Court and with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has worked as a vaccinator with the CVC team. Heather’s charity work has included fund raising for several local charities and includes work as a volunteer for Health Connections who signpost and assist people to access various services offered to the Guernsey community.

Lindsay Jefferies
MEMBER
Lindsay is currently the Managing Director of Island Global Research, a Guernsey-based market research company. Before joining Island Global Research, Lindsay was a Lecturer in Health Economics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She worked in the Faculty of Public Health for ten years and during that time completed a PhD in Health Economics.
Lindsay’s interest in public health and practice started in 2004 when she was working for the UK Department for International Development and led research on the retention of nurses in Malawi. Her subsequent academic research focused on the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions to improve health service provision in low-income countries. As an economist, her role was often to help identify structural and process barriers to health care, understand provider and patient behaviour, and to identify cost-effective solutions. Since moving to Guernsey she has been involved in several local studies, including the Guernsey and Alderney Wellbeing Survey 2018, GP patient satisfaction surveys and on economic and social impact of COVID-19 on people living in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

Elizabeth Nye
MEMBER
Elizabeth began her career in 1975 working as a Pharmacist Manager for several independents throughout the Southeast of England followed by several short contracts in the Middle East.
She came to Guernsey in 1984 and worked in all three Island practice pharmacies moving to an independent group in 2001. Elizabeth’s major interests are in Health Promotion, encouraging a healthy lifestyle in a holistic manner, incorporating exercise, balanced eating and good mental health.

Ian Carter
MEMBER
Ian is currently a Member of the States of Alderney where he has a brief for taking an overview of health-related issues. Prior to moving to Alderney he was involved in education in schools and universities and building community resilience in the UK. His focus is in facilitating the development of a fully coordinated health and social care system in a small community with limited resources.

Jenny Benjamin
MEMBER
Jenny has a nursing and health visiting background. She worked for a number of years for the States of Guernsey Education Department supporting the Personal, Social and Health Education Programmes in primary, secondary and private schools.
She was also a Tribunal member on the Child, Youth and Community Tribunal and was aware of the impact social and health care can have on relationships, behaviour, education and mental wellbeing.
In her work as Lead Volunteer for Health Connections Talking Cafes, she signposts people to the many agencies in the community for support and information. She is committed to encouraging all areas of health and social care to reach out for excellence, valuing their workforce and putting the patient at the forefront of its services.

Molly Edington
MEMBER
Molly has lived in Guernsey since 2014 and has always had a keen interest in local healthcare, with a focus on access to care. As a type 1 diabetic Molly is keen to learn of the experience of other Diabetics, or those with chronic conditions, with accessing and receiving care.
Molly has a keen interest in helping local charities and is involved with Sarnia Housing Association, Samaritans, and the Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service.
